SendGrid

SendGrid is the transactional anchor of our catalog: an email API and SMTP service for developer sending, with a Marketing Campaigns product alongside. It is operated by Twilio — sendgrid.com redirected (temporarily, not permanently) to Twilio's SendGrid email API pages when we verified it in August 2026, and Twilio continues to run the brand.

At our transactional normalization volume of 50,000 emails per month, Essentials costs $19.95/month — the slider lands exactly on the 50,000-email step. There is no perpetual free plan; new accounts get a 60-day trial at 100 emails per day. Pricing checked 19 August 2026. The curve turns steeply upward past Essentials' range: $19.95/month at 50,000 emails and $34.95 at 100,000, but 500,000 emails requires Pro at $499/month on the 700,000-email step (no 500k step exists) — the most expensive functional tier in our transactional capture at that volume (multi-volume capture, 21 August 2026).

Deliverability: not yet tested. Placement figures on this site come exclusively from our own seed-list tests (how we test); once SendGrid completes a cycle, its score joins the email deliverability ranking.

What others say about deliverability

  • Across 75,883 test emails, SendGrid achieved 76.99% inbox placement with 20.62% in spam and 2.40% missing, a mid-tier result (score 89/100) behind top performers like Sarbacane (92) and Klick-Tipp (91).

  • Deliverability-tool vendor's diagnostic guide citing a 2026 report that ~17.47% of SendGrid emails land in spam and 3.71% fail delivery, and noting SendGrid's default link tracking rewrites URLs to sendgrid.net, breaking DMARC alignment and reducing trust.

  • Independent B2B benchmark (Nov 2025) measures SendGrid at 35.31% inbox placement in Q1 2025, down 9.99 pp year-over-year, mid-pack among the six ESPs tracked.

  • Reports a surge of hacked SendGrid accounts pumping phishing and malware through SendGrid's trusted infrastructure — anti-spam firm Invaluement's CEO said 'there's not even a close second' among providers and launched a dedicated blocklist for compromised SendGrid accounts, while experts called SendGrid's lack of mandatory 2FA 'ludicrous.'

  • Mail admins report blocking SendGrid's entire IP ranges due to phishing volume ('my university straight up blocks any mail coming from a SendGrid IP'), months-long spam-folder placement for shared-IP customers, and blocked mail even after moving to dedicated IPs with correct DKIM/SPF/DMARC.
